I am now researching another branch of the family.
Census states they came from Russia.
Samuel Lewis (Louis, Levy) HINDEN (about 1876 in Russia)
and his wife Florence Henrietta COHEN (about 1879 in Russia)
Familytree says his name was Israel Lewis Hinden.
Hello to all,
again I'm working on the Robinson family and we found out that
was born 6th, April 1909 in West Derby, Lancashire
So it must be
Gertrude - A/J 1909 W Derby Liverpool 8b 417
Today we have been told that she had a sister with the name
Margaret or Margaret Ellen...
The Elizabeth and Clifton Barracks in Minden seem very interesting.
Another thought is:
Is there another Newbury in UK? Maybe it was a small village in 1930 and later it was a part of another city?
What do you think?
I already have a posting in the English forum, but I thought it would be of help to ask my question here too.
Is there a way to find out which regiments have been in Minden, Germany in the timeframe of 1948-1950?
I have a friend which was given up for adoption at the age of 6 in 1956...
My friend's mother was not married with Brian Chapman.
She was born out of wedlock. Her birth and adoption took place in Minden, Germany. Her mother was german too.
She had a lot of luck to get her adoption papers after such a long time (54 years). They mostly will be destroyed after 30 years...
On my friend's adoption papers is only the name, DOB and place of birth listed.
As far as I know no middle name. His mother's maiden name is not mentioned because it's not usual on german adoption papers.
Maybe they made a mistake and Newbury was the last residence? Or it was Newborough instead...
again I need your kind help.
A friend of mine is searching for her birthfather. She was adopted at the age of 6 when her mother died.
She now has her adoption files and her birthfather is listed as:
Brian (Bryan?) Chapman, born October 1930 in Newbury.
He served the British army and...
