Thanks!! I also managed to find another couple of articles from the same time (Aug/Sep 1859) about him deserting his wife but still can find nothing on Robert, Catherine, William or Sarah, after 1860 :)

His name was Hilton, it also has all of his siblings listed as children, and my great grandmother's name listed as his wife. So I am sure :)

I had the wrong original details. The right year, but wrong birth place. The death certificate for Joseph Conway known as Wallace has my great grandfather's name on it (listed as a child) so I am sure it's him.

Re: Wallace family Cobar UPDATE Hi all, Thanks for your help. I purchased the death certificate for the Joseph Wallace died in Cobar, 1925. It was indeed my Joseph Wallace. On the death certificate it listed his name as Joseph Conway known as Wallace. I then traced his birth to 1857 in...

Bridget was married to Michael, and then William, in the same church, in Adelaide, by the same priest. On her marriage certificate to Michael Flanagan (in 1852) her maiden name is listed as Haly.

Hi all, Bridget was married previously to Michael Flanagan (married in the same church as she married William). They were married in December 1852. I believe they had a son named Michael also, who died. I saw the record on Ancestry.com.au regard William Vincent Wallace (d. 07.09.1902) - which...

^ Interesting coincidence, I wonder if he's somehow related... When it rains it pours.... I happened upon my William and Bridget (I think) buried here in Adelaide. I also found an article from the death of one of their daughters Therese. In the article it says that was one of 12 children. Now...

Fair enough, on my great grandfather's (Hilton) birth certificate it says his father's (Joseph) birth place is Buckworth, Victoria (which we traced to be McIntyre Diggings near Maryborough in Victoria). I also have Joseph's birth certificate which lists his parents as William and Bridget (who...

I do, but under the parents, it says 'not listed'. I have Joseph (and Annie's) birth certificates though. As well as, his parents marriage certificate (William and Bridget). :)

That's not my Joseph unfortunately. My Joseph only had one sibling, his sister Mary. According to the NSW bdm register, the Joseph Wallace who died in 1942, was actually Joseph John Wallace? :/

Good find!! It'll be interesting to see if it is him. I've seen no mention of the 'Vincent' middle name until the death notice. I've ordered a transcript of the Joseph who died in Cobar in 1925, so when it comes, I'll let you know if it's him or not.... (not holding my breath though). :)

A question that I've asked millions of times.... :D Makes it so hard!!! Damn common names :p

Thanks. I am aware that Hilton's mother was the next of kin listed. My Dad said this was because Joseph was a drover and was unlikely to have a permanent address, where as his Mother would have been at home. That's just family talk though :)

Not that I've been able to find. I'm running out of ideas to find him (and his parents William and Bridget and his sister Mary). His son Hilton fought in WW1 but lists his mother as his next of kin. None of his other children served.
