    Hi
I have a copy of a marriage certificate for one of my ancestors, she was called Ellen Lees and married Thomas Platt in 1848. Her father is Daniel Lees, Manufacturer, of Greenacres Hill in Oldham. My mum thinks that the family had links to the Lees family of Cotton Manufacturers in Oldham, but I am struggling to get any further. Daniel was married to Martha, and Ellen was born in 1815 in Crompton / Royton. Daniel and Martha had 8 children and lived in the Crompton / Higginshaw / Heyside area of Oldham. It would be great to find out who Daniel was and any links to the cotton manufactuting families in Oldham at that time. I would be so grateful for any information. I have spent a lot of time reading about the cotton industry in Oldham and researching on the internet. I wondered if my Daniel was born in 1777 and was the son of Samuel Lees b 1744, whose brother was Daniel Lees of Bankside b 1756, Please contact me if you can help.
    Many thanks
    Caroline Hughes
