I know that when my dad died in 1998 he left a will I HAD to goto my local probate office to get a copy of the will for £5 I think it was. alternately you can apply to york for a copy of the will I think.!

thing is you never gonna know just exactly what is there until you get it.. you can specify to search with name variants (ie not an EXACT search)

right, well the only ann hampson is showing as buried in 1898, like i say it isnt complete, but this doesnt give a Date of burial just a year and states that the cemetery is beckett st cemetery leeds..

With everything it is always best to get the certs to prove that you are not going along the wrong line...

was your gt grandad known as Michael? at all? the reason I ask is that on the image on ancestry it looks like Michael could be misread as Richard and vise versa.... the enumerator would have to copy (try and read)...

do you have a birth certificate for the child born in 1884? at all, this would narrow down even further his date of death or possible emigration.
It is possible that he was working elsewhere in the country and died perhaps working away? or he might have re-married. There are emigration...
not wanting to poo poo anything here.. but you wont find a marriage certificate for a marriage in 1788, however, you will find a marriage entry within the Parish registers.
have you had a look at Hugh Wallis' site at all? you might find a marriage or bapt on there...
