    I'm afraid we'll hit more walls like this in the 17th century. I downloaded the will by the way, but it's not easy to decipher. Problems with wills is that they usually only mention "the kids", and no names. That's at least common practice in the Netherlands, and I already read a lot!

    Thanks for your information. Reading the google link it also seems Thomas the elder also had a brother named Elizeus. I suspect the family Benne was from Flanders.
