    Philips marriage

I've searched a few surrounding churches. Fortunately, in my case, John's son remarried in the 1850s and listed John's occupation - a jeweller. I've heard there were certain districts that had jewellers working there, so might give that a try.

    Philips marriage

Hello, I would appreciate some help looking for a marriage between John Philips and wife Mary. I have no maiden name. It is likely the marriage took place at St James Clerkenwell, London about 1760. Their first child was born 1762, and all were baptised at St James.

    binns marriage

Hi Trevor, Dochines is right in saying couples often married in the bride's home parish. I've had a lot of family do this. Is it possible that they married before John enlisted and went on to Carlisle? Or is there something that suggests they did so before moving about? Ryan

    Jeanne Lenglet -France

Hi annejay, I think Magdalene's father might have been called Jean (might have anglicised it to John or something similar) but I've no idea about her mother. I've heard that name Bachellier once or twice before, but not sure if they are linked. I do believe that Magdalene had a sister called...

    Jeanne Lenglet -France

Hi annejay, Sorry, I forgot to mention that I already have her marriage. You have the right one though; it's to William Shelton. Although I've also seen the one to Charles Blutte too. Mary Magdalene Le Duc was the sister of Magdalene Le Duc from Picardie (who has turned out to be the wrong...

    Jeanne Lenglet -France

Hi, Thanks to both of you for looking. I have since found out that these people are actually very likely to have come from Bolbec in Normandy and not Picardie. annejay, I did have a look on familysearch, but nothing that seemed to match. Jeanne Lenglet, it now turns out, hasn't anything to...

    World War Two Service Records?

Hi Ron, me again. Just wanted to ask if you had to send a death certificate of the serviceman/woman? On the website it says, " If he died out of service then written confirmation (such as a copy of the death certificate) must be obtained and sent withn your application." My grandfather did die...

    World War Two Service Records?

Thanks, Ron. Sorry, I must be bothering you now, but I've never done this before - do I include the letter of authority and details of my grandfather when writing to request the form to fill out? Or do I send all that back with the form?

    World War Two Service Records?

Hi Ron, Thanks. Sorry, another quick question: would I need to include birth/death certificates as proof of relation etc? Ryan

    World War Two Service Records?

Thanks gortonboy. Not sure if you'll know, but the Next of Kind section confuses me a little. He is my grandfather, but my father is still alive so is he the next of kin or do I have permission to obtain service records through myself? Grandchildren are third down on the list.

    World War Two Service Records?

Hi Ron, I've had another look at the photo. Although there is nothing distinctive about the uniform and I can't see any insignia or badges, on the back of the photograph is written "Cairo, April 1944" So WW2 obviously. I've also found another picture of him in Italy in 1945. Do you think that...

    Birth & Death, infant

Hi lookingforbiddles, I've searched everything at my disposal and cannot find a suitable baptism for Frederick Arthur Biddle. Best thing to do is as advised and order a certificate and get confirmation of his parents, then it might narrow it down a bit. Ryan
