    Burials of babies

Hi, I've now found both burials. The 1895 one is in Wardsend Cemetry and the 1879 is in St Mary's churchyard in Sheffield.

Hi, the baby is buried in Wardsend Cemetry in Sheffield. I haven't found the other burial as yet, no record of him in Wardsend.

    Bertha Carter

Hi Dave, just to let you know this is the right record. I ordered the certificate and it came today. It is my Bertha. She still lived at Braithwell when she died but she did die in Louth so thank you for that or I would have missed this record and maybe overlooked it with it being Louth.

    Burials of babies

Hi, just to let you know, I have found the burial place of one of the babies and am just off to the library to see if the other one is in the same cemetry. They are buried in a different cemetry to the rest of the family but they died long before the others so this may explain it. I might find...

    James Hardy

Hi Julie, no its the same with Selina, no trace of them after the 1861 census, this is going to be another brick wall I think. Regards Jill

    James Hardy

Hi Julie, the last census I can trace him on is the 1861 and he lived in Sheffield then. Thanks Jill

    James Hardy

Hi, I am trying to find the death for James Hardy, born 1826 in Sheffield. When he got married he was named James Smedley Hardy but his main name is Hardy in most records. Regards Jill

    Burials of babies

Hi, I have just found out about two babies in one of my Ancestry lines who died at one year old, they were born and died inbetween censuses so I only found them by chance on the Mormon site baptisms. Their deaths have been registered but I can't find a burial for them. The years of death were...

    Unregistered births.

Hi, I am having the same problem tracing my great grandfather because his birth isn't registered. I have put another thread on the Births forum. Sam Deakin was born in 1854 in Sheffield but I have ordered his birth certificate and the Register Office have told me that his birth wasn't...

    Samuel Deakin

The Sarah Deakin who died in 1867 isn't my Sarah, her burial has come up on Sheffield Indexers so thats confirmed that mystery.

    Samuel Deakin

Hi Julie, thank you for this. I notice that there is a death for a Sarah Deakin - died in Sheffield in 1867 and gives the correct year of birth that tallies with my Sarah but as Sarah Deakin was alive on the 1871 census I have ruled this one out. However, it is the first record that comes up...

    Samuel Deakin

Hi, thanks for this, I will have a look at the Apprentice lists. I have looked at Sheffield Indexers for burials before, my great grandfather Sam Deakin's burial is listed, as are quite a few of the Deakin family but not my great great grandfather Sam unfortunately. Regards Jill

    Samuel Deakin

Hi, thanks for this, I will look into the apprentice lists and the ones with Rebecca Deakin. I am just wondering about Sarah still though as she doesn’t appear in any other records. The Sissions could still be a link. Regards Jill

    Samuel Deakin

Hi Julie, thanks for all this, Sam Sisson's birth was registered in 1854, thats when my great grandfather Sam Deakin was born - both born in Sheffield. Regards Jill

    Samuel Deakin

Hi again, I think there could be some link with the Sarah Sissons theory. The only thing is that Sarah Deakin on the 1871 census was born in Sheffield, and Sarah Sissons was born in Birmingham, could there be an error on the census? Also she is listed in the 1861 census as Sarah Dakin, char...

    Samuel Deakin

Hi and thank you for this, I am going to look into both of these cases because there may well be a link here. I will let you know how I get on. Regrds Jill

    Bertha Carter

Hi Dave, thanks for that, it could be a possibility. I don't have relatives in Louth but Bertha and Charles could have moved there and then he could have gone back to Doncaster if he died after Bertha. It may be worth ordering the death cert to see if it is Bertha. Regards Jill

    Bertha Carter

Hi Julie, Charles Henry's death was registered in Doncaster in 1965. I am assuming this is the correct death entry for him as its the only one that fits with his date of birth. Regards Jill

    Bertha Carter

Hi Julie, thanks for this but Bertha was born in 1882 so I don't think this record will be linked. Thanks for looking anyway. Regards Jill
