    Census missing people

    I have an 11 year old boy, that I cannot find on the 1911 census, you would expect someone of that age to be at home, but he is not, and cannot be found anywhere, I wonder if people where just missed by mistake ?......Del.

    Thanks ptjw7, Yes, this name would have sounded the same, but different transcribers would have written it down as they thought it should be spelt, so Ato, Ayto, Atough, Aytough, Eato, Eatto,Eyto, Eatough....etc.etc, all sound the same, I tend to think that anyone with these names are related...

    Eric Clarke....Where Did He Die ?

    Just an update, I have found the death of Eric Clarke, or rather someone else has, it was registered as Eric Clark McBlain at Ardrossan , in 1947, I now know that John Clark McBlain was either his father, or step -father, he married Sarah Donaldson Foster Clark, at Kilmarnock, in 1930.     Barbara, It's The Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald site, a newspaper archive, Annie Clarke was born at Ardrossan in 1910, her mother was Susannah Clarke m.s. McDowell, her father was unknown. She married George Alfred Creed in 1935 at Glasgow. Regards Del.

    Barbara, the grandmother, Anne McDowell, died at Ardrossan in 1918, she was 79 years old, widow of Hugh McDowell, and daughter of James Smith, the cert, gives informant as SUSAN Sanders, Samuel's widow, I think, it is on S.P. but under ANN without the E.. Regards Del.

    Barbara, On his 1st marriage cert. Hugh's father is given as dock labourer[deceased], on the 2nd one he is given as general labourer[deceased],I would'nt mind that link thank-you, all it says on the record I have is that Hugh Joseph re-enlisted.....I assumed back into Royal Navy. Regards Del.
