    Wears - County Durham

Thanks all for the various suggestions and tips. I've now had a proper search for information and apologies for the length of this reply but below is what I have discovered - annoyingly it poses more questions than answers. Any further thoughts? Many thanks! Possible 1851 Census match for...

    Wears - County Durham

No the 1865 record won't be right if he was from near Haltwhistle, and you are probably right that he had died prior to 1861. The above record looks very interetsing. The actual place of birth of George was White Cake Row - I'm not entireley sure where that was exactly (it doesn't exist now)...

    Wears - County Durham

Hi there, Yes I think you are right. Information from another part of the family suggests that John Wears died in 1865 and Mary Jane remarried a Mr Taylor. Son George becomes known as George Wears-Taylor in later years so this ties in with that name change. I have found a potential death...

    Wears - County Durham

Hi Paul, Where did you find that information? John's son George Wears-Taylor died in Madras in 1914 but cannot find any evidence that John was in India too.

    Margaret Ann Parker (Canada)

Just had a quick look and nothing obvious - there is a Helen Marjorie Osborne on the Isle of Wight but she was aged 10 months, so would have been born in 1910.

    Margaret Ann Parker (Canada)

Looks possible as 1911 was the suggested birth date in 1951. If there is a Helene Osbourne in the 1911 Census that would give her father's name. But not sure where she was born so where to look. I take it there was no reference to Margaret coming back in 1955? Thanks John

    Margaret Ann Parker (Canada)

Not sure - haven't been able to find birth details of Helene. I meant I was unsure why Margaret's father Frank George Parker wasn't on board. There was some speculation within the family that Helene was born in Canada, but do not know if that is the case. Is there any way of knowing where...

    Margaret Ann Parker (Canada)

Thanks. I had found the 1st marriage but wasn't aware of the second. Itis certainly in the right place (Brighton) so is highly likely. If they broke up after Margaret's birth that would explain whyshe moved in ith my great grandparents. And if they got back together that would explain why she...

    Margaret Ann Parker (Canada)

Hi Dave Thanks very much for this, great information. I dont think any of the other Parkers are related as they aren't names / locations I have come across in that family branch. Assuming the grandfather was Helene's father are there any Osbournes / Osbornes on the same crossing? Thanks...

    Margaret Ann Parker (Canada)

Hi all I'm trying to find information about Margaret Ann Parker on behalf of my great aunt. She was born on 11 Aug 1932 in Marylebone to Frank George Parker and Helene Osbourne. After she was born she moved in with my grandfather, great aunt and their parents. My great grandparents brought...

Hi Elwyn Thanks for the reply! I hadn't investigated the 1866 record - given the marriage in 1879 I thought this would be too late, but no harm in looking into it further. I had found a potential baptism record in 1864 in Ballygawley, Co. Tyrone (about 20 miles from Cookstown) which showed...

    Wears - County Durham

Hi there, I'm hoping someone may be able to help as I have hit a brick wall within this branch of my research. I have discovered a lot of information about George Wears but I am struggling to find out anything about his parents. George was born on 25th July 1852 at Whitecake Row in Birtley...

Hi all I've really struggled with my Northern Irish ancestors but thanks to the feature in the latest who do you think you are magazine I have made some further progress. I seem to have reached the point that I am stuck again, but I've been encouraged that various records do exist afterall...
