    Brick Wall Again!

Thanks Colin Glad to know it's not only me. May have to widen search as you say but the name Hustler was very prominent in the parish records of Thornton. Typical that the one I want wasn't there. Gladys

    Brick Wall Again!

I'm trying to find the birth of Richard Hustler born 1789 in Thornton which is now Thornton le Dale, Yorkshire. I have searched the parish records but no sign of him. The birth year fits with his date of death (1869 aged 80) and also each census shows his correct age. I have also looked at...

    Anyone know what this is?

Thanks Julie Reckon half the stuff on the census is rubbish. I think the enumerators put something down and then can't read their writing! Gladys

    Anyone know what this is?

Rural Messenger. On the 1871 census for my gggrandfather, but on the census before and after he was a rope maker. Think there might have been a mistake when the census was taken? Gladys

    McAdie

A shot in the dark - I am looking for Sutherland McAdie born about 1903 in Scotland! Father John. I think he was born Edinburgh area - perhaps Portobello. He married my grandmother Gladys Cusworth in 1923 in England but that is all I know. Gladys

    1871 census lookup

Thank you very much Julie, that fills in a few gaps for me - now I know why I could not find them on the 1871. I had some free access in the local library but doing a name search came up with nothing. As you've now pointed out, that was because the name entered was incorrect. thanks again Gladys

    1871 census lookup

Thanks Julie I think the enumerators couldn't be bothered with the numbers as they are not on 1871 or 1881 and Henrietta St was fairly long! If you have a minute there is William and Catherine (Richard's parents) who I couldn't find on the 1871 and wondered where they lived. Gladys

    1871 census lookup

Thanks Julie You don't happen to know the number in Henrietta Street? I have the 1881 census which shows Henrietta Street but no number - I would love to know where they lived as part of it is still there. I don't know why I couldn't find them on the 1871. Gladys

    1871 census lookup

Can someone please look for the Hustler family on the 1871 census in Whitby, Yorks. There should be Richard and Susannah with two or three children (one was born 1871), plus any other Hustlers any possibly say where they lived. Thanks Gladys
