    An executer in a will is usually someone that dosent benefit from it, is Scotland different? My great grandmother left a will in 1902 naming her son as executer with 2 other folk.... would he have received nothing?

    Bernard died in 1890 aged 73 in Port Glasgow. To find these people in Ireland Im gonna have to go to Londonderry.... only problem I have is I dont know what religion they were to seek the parish Karen x

    Ive found Martha Carten 1811 death certificate She died in 1865 Feb 17 in Scotland Fathers name Paul Gurney and Sarah Gurney nee McKay. Karen x :)

    I dont know either lol it seems easy but not lol people seemed to move house quite often in those days and its hard to keep up with them, A lot of our records were destroyed for some reason. we dont have census records from 1860s until the one in 1901.... probable another war looming lol...

    I also now know that William died in 1876 at just 34 from liver cancer when my grandfather was just 1 leaving Helen alone with 4 young children. That must have been very hard for her Karen x

    Thank you Ellie, and yes Barbara, many thanks. Martha was called Mattie here and she died when she was 21. Ellen died at 12 1/2. The others were my uncle A!ex and aunt Katie both of whom lived to their 90s. U said 5 children of whom 4 survived. Do u know the name of the other? Karen x
