    Annuity

Just usually it says where the money is going to in other extracts I have read, eg., the Son left his fortune to his mother and 2 sisters.

    Annuity

I don't know. They seemed to manage financially after his death but the son/brother died 3 months later and left them some money too.

    Annuity

Was looking at probate for elderly man, retired draper, died in his 80s and it say the money is going to an accountant. Don't think he was a relative and besides the man had a wife and two spinster daughters who were apparently left with nothing. Could it be he was living off an annuity which...

    Australian immigration records 1880s

I haven't found anything after their marriage. Though its difficult with Murray Gilchrists often to find them as they were devout Wesleyan Methodists. Nothing has turned up in newspaper archives or Sheffield Indexers. If she did die soon after marriage most probable cause would be childbirth.

    Australian immigration records 1880s

Anyone got access to Australian records? I've tried the few I have access to. I am looking for Peter Murray Gilchrist and wife Elizabeth. Peter was born in 1861 in Sheffield, was an apprenticed cutler, and married Elizabeth in 1881. I think he may have emigrated some time between 1881 and 1887...

    William Wordsworth's Ancestors?

There were other people's attempts but turned out to be suspect as had some people being born in two places or born after they had already died. There does seem to be Quaker families which may be why difficult to find birth records. Also if they married out of the society they would probably be...

    Elizabeth Roebuck nee Camden

That sounds like her. Her husband was born in 1720. That date I know is correct as have Sheffield Parish records for him.

WW1 - Restored film. by Peter Jackson.

It is amazing and thinking that there are other film archives where such work would be great too. Such as some of the early films of UK cities and people leaving works or going on a day out.

    Shores X 3 Sheffield

Quite possibly. My main aim was to see if there was a direct link between the three brothers who demolished the castle and Samuel son of John Shore who built a Steel works on the castle site around 60 years later. Problem is when you go into civil war period there can be gaps in registers as I...

    Shores X 3 Sheffield

I found something that said Humphrey had a son John but I also found 2 different birth dates for John. But the date 1650 makes more sense because his wife Sarah Sims was born around that date too. I don't know Ralph. The Shores were said to have come from Dronfield but that makes no sense as...

    Ancestral Cobblers

I've hit a new bunch of family tree cobbling ie when one family thread is linked into another thread despite the fact that it makes no sense. So people keep moving across the continent despite the trade directories showing they worked in same place for whole of their life. Their children are...
