Hi - I am trying to find some information on my great grandfather who served in the 6th Dragoon Guards during the Second Boer War from 1899 to 1902 I think it is.
Is there any sites or somewhere I can find out what battles etc. he was in, and if he received any medals. I do have some enlistment...
I am just wondering if my great grandfather was in the 6th Dragoon Guards in South Africa during the 1901 census, would he have been registered on the census, or you just have to assume that his records from South Africa are the census????
His name is William Clark b 1879 in Clifton...
If i want to access or get a copy of my great grandfathers war or service record, do i need to write to the National Archives in the UK.
Or can i look them up and order online like i can the medal card??
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what regiment or war this uniform is from. It looks like WW1 to me but not sure.
It is a picture of my great grandfather who I believe served around the 1900s, so possibly 1906 or even WW1.
It would have been the British Army.
Any idea on regiment...
Can anyone help me work out what uniform/regiment this uniform is from. It is a picture of my g grandfather but i don't know what regiment he is was in, but he did serve in India and the Boer War.
Any help would be appreciated.
I know that my great grandfather served in the British Army either in India or the Boer War, or maybe both.
Any idea on where I can look for this information. I know his date of birth, county where he was from etc, but not what regiment or that.
