    Elizabeth STEVENSON

Having failed to find a death for James Stewart, I wonder if he emigrated. I have no idea how to go about finding that out. Some general pointers would be appreciated.

    John Stewart. 1738-1815.

A search on SP reveals only one John Stuart Born in Selkirk between 1735 and 1742. I don't have any credits left, but I'd check that one out. SP has no marriages in Selkirk for a John Stuart b/n 1756 and 1777, so I guess he was married in Durham the first time too.

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

Ah, I get it. Perhaps a post in the Keltie topic pointing out that you had started an Elizabeth Stevenson topic for me would have helped? Thanks for all your help. I have made some progress with my search for the elusive James Stewart. Taking your advice about not taking the ages on the census...

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

Hi Dave, "I started this topic to give you the census listings." Yes, but why this particular entry? I didn't show any interest until after you and crankypants had exchanged several posts. Somebody must have been interested in Elizabeth Stevenson to prompt you to start the topic, surely?

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

I am a bit surprised that nobody seems interested in my solution to the death date for Elizabeth Stevenson: its all gone a bit quiet. Dave, might I ask what your interest in Elizabeth Stevenson was in the first place?

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

The Elizabeth Stevenson who died in St Rollox Glasgow in 1891 is definitely the Elizabeth Kelty we are interested in. Her second daughter Ann Stevenson married Henry Hayworth in Falkirk in 1871. In the 1891 census, Henry Hayworth (40), Ann Hayworth (38), Son William (19), daughter Elizabeth (14)...

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

In case anybody is interested (I don't think it has been posted before). John Stevenson died on 22/2/1885 in Falkirk.

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

Thanks Dave. I checked all the ages of the James Stewarts who died between 1841 and 1851, none of them were close.

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

I have a general question, how likely is it that the same person would have two entries in a census record? I ask because in the 1841 census for Dunfermline there are only two James Stewarts of 30 years old. One is living with his wife Elizabeth and sons James and Robert (my ancestor). The other...

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

Yes Dave, your right. I have spent a lot of credits and time trying to get a date for James's death. His birth is also problematical. A James Steuart was born on 29/06/11 to William Steuart and Janet Wilson, which would make him 30 for the 1841 census. However, the only William and Janet...

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

Thanks Dave, I think I had ruled our the other Elizabeth Kelty because of her whereabouts on the 1841 census (Perth, not with her parents but visiting a friend, no sign of the kids Robert and James). Interesting to see that the Elizabeth Kelty we are interested in had a three year old daughter...

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

Thanks for your reply Dave. Her age in 1841 is given as 25, making a birth year of 1815 or 1816 probable. I had found another Elizabeth Kelty born in 13/061819 in Edinburgh to John Kelty and Janet Hood. They moved to Perth prior to the birth of a 2nd Daughter Euphemia in 1828.

    Elizabeth STEVENSON

Hi CP and Dave, I am descended from Elizabeth Stevenson via her second son Robert Stewart. I too had noticed the death entry in 1893 in St Rollox. What I'm more interested in is her birthdate/birthplace and parents name. I could not find a marriage entry for James Stewart (Roberts father...

KELTIE / KELTY family in Perth in 1841

Hi, I too have a link to the Keltie familly. I am interested in an Elizabeth Keltie who had two sons, James in 1839 and Robert in 1841, both to James Stewart (all in Dunfermline). I cannot find a marriage date for James and Elizabeth, not can I pin down a birth entry for Elizabeth. In the 1841...
