John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

Per my message of June 30, I was able to make contact with Rev. John Clark's grandson who was delighted to learn that we found his grandfather's books. He is now interested in learning more about the ancestors of Rev. Clark and his wife, Catherine (born Catherine Inglis Small) . However, he...

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

I'm happy to report that I have made contact with two of John Clark's descendants -- both very surprised as you can imagine! One of them is Rev. Clark's grandson and is very interested in getting the books, especially because he inherited a small bookcase inscribed with his grandfather's name...

Yes, I hope so as well -- and I will certainly keep you posted. Once again many thanks for your help, I certainly could not have done it without you.

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

Yes, Google -- it seems that Robert Allardyce Main was quite well-known in Aberdeen. I have sent a message to his and Katherine's son, who is called Robert Charles Allardyce Main and owns an engineering firm in Aberdeen.

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

I think I have found the son, Robert Charles Allardyce Main. He was born in 1965 in Aberdeen. He runs an engineering firm in Aberdeen. I am going to send him an email and see if he is the right person.

So, Katherine Margaret Main is definitely the granddaughter, Scotlands people shows her mother's maiden name was Clark. Katherine (Kay) Margaret Main died in 2006 in Aberdeen. If I can locate her son Robert or daughter Patricia, we are there!!

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

On the Scotlandspeople site I found a Katherine Margaret Roger born in 1930 in Forgan, I think this is probably the daughter of Margaret Brown Clark and her husband Charles Robertson Roger who married in 1929 in Forgan -- in other words the granddaughter of John A. Clark. On the same site, I...

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

Hi, i haven't found anything more on Christina. But on the eldest daughter, Margaret Brown Clark, I've determined that her husband Charles R. Roger died 15 April 1952 and she died 1 December 1969. They are both buried in Vicarsford Cemetery which is close to Newport on Tay. I am wondering if...

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

The April 1911 census had listed a 1-year-old named Chris, so on Scottspeople I looked for Christine or Christina -- I found a Christina Clark born in Bellshill in 1909, so I think that's the missing daughter.

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

Just one query: John A Clark died in 1940, so if Margaret Brown Clark and Charles Roger married in 1942, the latter wouldn't have been a son-in-law in 1940...

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

I think I can fill in the blank: Christina Clark, born 1909 Bellshill!

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

John A Clark was at Coldstream in 1903 so I think the Margaret Brown Clark born there in 1901 is the right one. He was married in 1899. And when you say Charles Roger was a pallbearer, I assume you mean at funeral of John A Clark, correct?

Look what I found!! Daughter Grace did marry and have children, the family name is Leggate: (this comes from the Center for the Study of World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh); John M. Leggate, MB ChB, FRCS, was a Church of Scotland medical missionary in Manchuria and the nephew of...

John A. Clark, born 1873 in West Calder, studied at University of Edinburgh, Bachelor of Divinity

Hello, that's a great idea about advertising in Crieff. I found a Facebook page for people who grew up in Crieff, have asked them if I could join to post my question. I have searched the French government (Insee) death index and did not find any Clarks who lived in the area near my friend from...
