Hi everyone,
I am trying to locate the Welsh lineage of a John Evans believed to be born abt 1819 Llandiloes Montgomeryshire son of John Evans and Sinah??? John jnr believed to be a soldier of the 96th Regiment at Foot (The Manchester Regiment) enlisted ?Aug 1839 Danadby?? also enlisted in the Mounted police Sep. 1840. He emigrated to Australia and married in 1845 age 26; died 87yrs father's occupation labourer. I have tried various sites without success and would greatly appreciate someone's kindness to do a census look up please for other family members. Any leads on site for information on the soldier & mounted police also appreciated. Thanking you from Australia Sharon

I have several John Evans in my file, along with a lot of other Evans from Wales. I also have an extensive amount of Price's from Wales even a John Evans Price. The Price's are from Breconshire. Do you know anything else about John Evans? Any relatives, parents, siblings, etc.?

Hi Laura
I had been under the impression John Evans parents were John & Sinah Evans however via a very kind researcher in USA I find John's father's name was Robert, mother still Sinah and other children were:
David Evans Evans ch Dec 16 1813 Llangynog Montgomery Wales
Jane ch feb 11 1816 " "
John ch Aug 15 1819 " "
Anne ch Jan 27 1822 " "
Morris ch Dec 07 1823 " "
Sinah ch May 28 1826 " "
Thomas ch Sep 14 1828 " "

Am hoping I can get follow up information now, are any of the above names in your files? Thank you for replying to my query. Sharon

Sorry Laura that I haven't got back to this site before now. Thanks so much for that information which is more than I had a month ago! This genealogy research is like the turtle race with the hare - sure & steady (slowly) you win the race. Can you suggest any way I can find out Sinah's maiden name - was/is this a Welsh name? I have found other names such as Sinead as popular names but not Sinah. Thanks for your help it is much appreciated. Sharon
