1841 census

Hi everyone
I wonder if there is anyone out there who can point me in the right direction? My g/g/grandfather, his wife, and first born son, are recorded on the 1851 Census, as William MacKay, Eliza MacKay, and John Robert Mackay, respectively. Willian is shown as being "born Scotland", (doesn't say where!)

It's a distinct possibility that William was still living in Scotlad in 1841; so. can anyone tell me where I might find William MacKay on any 1841 census or Church records?

Could be the family in 1841 Liverpool, though Williams age is a bit out

Agnes McKay age 15 born Scotland
William McKay age 15 occ app carpenter born Scotland

Seeing that William in 1841 is old enough to fly the nest, its hard to pin point him on the Scottish census if he is still in Scotland.

If you want I can post the Williams in Caithness for you and see what you think. These would be transcriptions from the census.

Thanks for your post; however, the McKay family you listed are not my family: my g/g/grandfahther, William Mckay, was born in the year 1817, in Scotland! But, his wife Eliza, my g/g/grandmother, was born in Gresford on the Welsh/Cheshire border, and I have a copy of their marriage certificate, dated 13th July 1849.

I would be grateful for any information you might be able to send me on the William McKay / MacKay from Caithness, that might help my research!

I'm 99.9% certain that my g/g/Grandfather, William McKay's, year of birth was, in fact, 1817; so, thanks for your offer of looking at other years, but I don't think that will lead me anywhere. I've heard that there is a McKay / MacKay DNA tracing project being done somewhere. Does anyone have any information about it?
