Hi

I was wondering if some kind person would perform an 1841 census lookup for Uppingham, Leicestershire for a Jane Peach b.1776. I am interested to find out who else is at the address. Your assistance would be most helpful.

Kindest Regards

Alan

However there is a Jane Paech born Preston, Rutland, a village just north of Uppingham, living with her son in Wyberton, Lincs in 1851/61.

Conyers Peach 60 Shepherd, with Christina 40 in Belmont Chase, Rutland

1851
Josepn Lester 40 Wyberton, Farmer
Ann Lester 49 Theakstone, Leicester
Robert 14 Wyberton
Ann 12 Wyberton
Jane Peach 75 Preston, Rutland, wid
living West End Rd, Wyberton

1861
Josh Lester 50 Wyberton

Hi Dave
In GenUK they also have Uppingham in Rutland.

Ozn
Hi Ozn
thanks for that - Depends what time you are looking at. It's right on the border and over time has been moved from one county to another. Rutland was dissolved completely at one time, but re instated due to people power. Same happened to East Yorkshire. Pleased to say it is back again as I was born there and proud of it. Didn't seem the same beiing called a Humbersider

The 1841 census does not give places of births only an indication of whether they were born in the County in which they resided or not. In the parish of Stockerston which is in Leicestershire and is in Uppingham District, there is a 65 year old Jane Peach, said to be born in that County. Stockerston is only about 2 miles from Uppingham.
Also in the same household is a Benjamin Peach 65, Shepherd, Eliza Peach 16 and a John Peach 15. All born in Leics. Relationships are not given in 1841.

Hi I think this could be the right one. On IGI Joseph's parents were Benjamin and Jane
