would be grateful if someone could check 1861 census for Patrick Tolan b @ 1837 Ireland and his wife Bridget b @ 1838

Hi,

In the 1861 census there is a William Tolan born 1836 Ireland listed as a mason and bricklayers labourer, married to a Bridget Tolan born 1841 also Ireland.
also with the couple is
Martin Tolan son born 1859 Ireland
Mary Quance Mother (of Bridget) born 1821 Ireland (There is a note that the correct surname is Ruance)
Oner Brayhen (lodger) born 1841 Ireland

The family are living Heckmondwick, Dewsbury Yorkshire.

Not sure if this is your Family but I can find not other Tolans that could possibly fit in the 1861 census of England and wales.

Many thanks for your reply, do you have access to Scottish census returns as Patrick & his wife may be living in Scotland. I know that Patrick was somewhere on mainland Britain in 1861 but like you have not found him in England
