Look up required for Anne Bye <1856> born (and residing) Waltham St Lawrence, Berkshire - I have looked this up on the transcript and am fairly confident that Anne is the person I am looking for but I have her as Annie (From 1901 census). What I want to know is does the name look like it could be Annie on the original image.

Apologies Scham1 I did spell your name wrong on previous post.. but I will amend that in a moment.

Rightio I have found Anne Bye in 1881 with her family.. the image isnt very clear but it could be Annie, even though it is transcribed as Anne.

I wouldnt worry too much about the spelling of names as many people couldnt write/spell so wouldnt have much of an idea anyway.

I have an Adaline that is an Adlin and then Ada and eventually an Edith!!!

you might also find that Ann can be Anne/Ann/Nan/Nancy/Hannah/Annie/Anabelle.....

sometimes you have to look a little further and not be so rigid with names :)

I have a Susanna Eleanor that I couldnt find at all on the 1901 cens, found her son and her parents but not her, found her hubby not with him,

turns out she had died, her burial record... shows Ellen

Thanks for the look up. Just adds a little to the confidence of the find.

Scham1

do you need to find them in other census? have you got any BMD certs to verify your findings?

I presume you have seen the 1881 census from LDS (familysearch)? so have a household list

Apparently www.ancestry.co.uk have a 14 day free trial, all you need is a credit card and as long as you cancel before your 14 days are up then you won't be charged for a subscription.
