In 1881 census James Kent Shows as being on board of HMS Minotaur.

I would like to find out next of kin from service records if possible.

There is a James Henry Kent born 23 Aug 1858 Sunderland on the register of seamans services online at the National Archives Kew, which can be downloaded for £3.50.

James Kent born abt 1859 Darlington is with his parents John and Sarah in 1871 in the civil parish of Holy Trinity, RD Darlington.
There are other James Kent born in between 1858-1871 on the 1871 census. The birth index gives 5 James Kent born County Durham Tyne and Wear district Sunderland between the years 1858-1864.
