Hi

Once again many thanks for taking the trouble to help out. Can't understand why MAtilda Agnes Abel married William Abel in MAcclesfield (1875) as William was born in Hackney. Maybe Matilda was in MAcclesfield @ 1875 with her family and her father may have been posted up in Chershire for a while (do we know John Abel's profession in 1871, in 1861 he was in the police, but why was William Abel there. Does anyone know if there are on line police records for 1860s/70s that I could check for John Angell?

Take care
Sue

Hi Sue.

If he was in Policeman in London, there may be records held.

Contact here - http://www.met.police.uk/history/archives.htm

I have had some very good results in the past, but on occasions nothing is found.

Hi,

John seems to have spent his policing days in Kent. He is in the civil parish of Foots Cray, registration district Bromley in 1851.

Hope this link is helpful, if not they may be ale to point you in the right direction.
