Hi Steve,

Thanks for your help - yes I forgot to mention that Jessie is indeed female,
unfortunately the above family don't look as if they are the correct one.

I am actually looking for my grandad Frederick William Williams and have been going round in circles on and off for 2 years trying to find a link. I think I have been given some false info. (I was recently told my grandad had one brother - but the person wasn't 100 per cent sure) but obviously can't be sure at this stage.
What I am sure of is my memory of an Aunt Jessie (who I remember visiting in East End of London in 1960's) I have checked on my grandmothers side and as far as I am aware there isn't a Jessie.
I am vaguely aware of the surname Jessop also. (This memory is from my mother writing christmas cards to relatives in London I think)
I have actually found a marriage of a JESSIE E WILLIAMS and a JOSEPH C JESSOP - married MAR 1927 PANCRAS.
I realise now though that the name Jessop could possible be just a neighbours name that cropped up in conversation, I am just assuming it was from christmas cards written.
Is there any further info. that can be obtained from the above marriage without having to purchase a copy of the certificate please.
regards
Felicity

Hi Felicity,
Is Frederick William Williams your paternal or maternal grandfather.
Check the birth cert of your parent. It should give you his parents name and address and occupation. And also the mothers maiden name.

Then you will have parents names.

Then you will have the names for a wedding cert. On that cert. will be info on the bride and grooms parents.

As usual start from the end(you), and work backwards. But start with what you know.

You will still have to buy a few certs. At £7 a pop, they can save your sanity and a lot of time.

There is a Jessie Williams on the 1911 census living in the district of Bethnal Green born abt 1895. The household transcript costs 10 credits and the census image 30 credits.

Have you Fredericks marriage certificate which will give fathers name and occupation.

Hi Juliejtp
Thanks for the 1911 listing - it looks interesting, may be of use (fingers crossed) later

Yes, I do have my grandfathers marriage certificate, I ;think it may be this thats causing a lot of trouble.
Do you know - is there any chance that Frederick's father's name has been put down wrong? I have been going round in circles and getting nowhere. Great grandad is down as the same name as his Frederick William Williams but its not getting me anywhere.

Hi Marianne,

Its possible that a mistake has been made. Perhaps a look at the actual marriage register. I have my gt grans father as Henry on her marriage certificate but the birth certificate is says Thomas.
Do the witnessses on the marriage certificate give a clue they maybe relatives.

Hi Steve,

Yes, I think I will have to try and locate my mothers birth certificate, if not order one, I was hoping to solve this without having to seek out my mother's certificate.
Thanks for all your help on this one.

Thanks for that, yes got his certificate but even with his fathers name I still cant find his birth details - I think there may have been an error on the certificate.
