Samuel Ernest Barnes Enlistement papers dated 20/3/17 born Wagga aged 44 yrs 11 months, a farmer has Emily Barnes as NOK at Flood Street Coodgee NSW.

BARNES. - The Relatives and Friends of Mrs. Emily BARNES and FAMILY are kindly invited to attend the Funeral of her late dearly loved HUSBAND, and their FATHER, Samuel Ernest; to leave his late residence, Hayton, Flood-street, Coogee, THIS MONDAY, at 10 a.m., for Waverley Cemetery.

BARNES.–September 1, 1917, at a private hospital, Randwick, Samuel Ernest, dearly loved husband of Mrs. Emily Barnes, and youngest son of the late Joseph Barnes, of Yarranjerry, and late of Junee, aged 50 years.

DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT.
Mrs. Elizabeth Barnes, a resident of the district for over 50 years, died at her residence, Coolamon, on Sunday last, aged 70 years. The deceased lady was widely known throughout Riverina, and her many excellent qualities had endeared her to a large circle of friends. She was the oldest daughter of the late Samuel Stinson, of North Berry Jerry, one of the early pioneers in these parts. Mrs. Barnes was the widow of the late Joseph Barnes, of Yarranjerry, and leaves a family of three sons and five daughters, viz —Mr. Joseph Barnes (Coolamon), Mr. Samuel Barnes (Junee), Mr. Anthony Barnes (Queensland), Mrs. T. W. Robinson (Cobham Lake), Mrs. F. J. Hansford (Sydney), Mrs. T. Sanderson (Temora), Mrs. S. Stinson (Berry Jerry) and Mrs. J. Haddrill (Temora). The funeral took place yesterday, and was largely attended. The remains were buried in the Presbyterian portion of the Wagga cemetery, and the service at the grave was read by the Rev. C. Bell. The pall-bearers were Messrs. J. Barnes, E. Stinson, J. Stinson and S. Stinson. The remains were encased in a panel led cedar cofiin, the funeral arrangements being carried out from Coolamon by Messrs. Hoye and Colbeck.

The death is reported from Sydney of Mrs. Eliza Barnes, aged 73 years, a highly respected former resident of Coolamon. Mrs. Barnes, whose husband predeceased her many years ago, was a sister of Messrs. Owen and E. H. Furner, of Coolamon, and Mrs. Jennings, of Wagga. She is survived by one daughter, Mona. Messrs. O. and E. -H. Furner proceeded to Sydney to be present at the funeral. — Coolamon correspondent.
