Post #6 my transcription of the marriage from Volume 41 on film - CofE Windsor St Matthew's.

There is probably a different film at the Mitchel Library of the actual church register. The image I viewed is of the form sent by the church to the Registrar General and does not contain ALL the details from the register.

Details re CP and Full Pardon are not on NSW Records site. Can't find the CP in TROVE.

Arrival Index:

JONES Joseph - Randolph 20/08/1849 London Middlesex CCC 01/02/1847 7 yrs - Mudgee aka Richard BOXALL

Dave,
who is the direct Boxall in your family - are any of the children to this Richard/Joseph and Mary nee Paull familiar to you?

If you google the ship Randolph 1849 - I am wondering because of all the controversy on its arrival in various places, were most of the convicts given pardon - to step ashore and mingle so to speak.

then if he did marry in 1854 - he was convicted in 1847 and didn't arrive till '49 so there goes 2 yrs, so he was free after 7 yrs in 1854... or he married without permission, "Joseph Jones" was convicted not "Richard Boxall" so the alias name could have slipped thro the cracks so to speak...

regards
Val

Hi Val,

This is the one in my tree. A bit off a main line.

Birth 15729/1864 BOXALL EMILY - RICHARD - MARY A - WARIALDA * 24 Feb

Death 29504/1954 JEFFERAY EMILY JANE - RICHARD JOSEPH - MARY ANN - PARRAMATTA * 11 Oct

JONES Joseph - Randolph 1849 49/364 Ticket of Leave [4/4217; Reel 962] District: Mudgee; Tried: CCC

Being a 'Convict Exile' the ToL was granted in 1849 [49/...]

I can't find a baptism for him or a marriage that fits for parents.

The trial has his mother as Mary Boxall.

I'll search for the film of the parish register one day next week for the 1854 marriage.

The Mitchel Library has a film of the marriage register from 1810 - 1856.

Films 53 & 54 so I don't even have to search the printed catalogue. There are over 250 films.

NSW State Records Convicts
Convict transportation to New South Wales effectively ceased in 1842 but between 1849-50 exiles were transported. Exiles had served part of their sentence in a penitentiary in Britain and were granted a conditional pardon or ticket of leave on arrival in the Colony.

JONES Joseph - Randolph 20/08/1849 London Middlesex CCC 01/02/1847 7 yrs - Mudgee aka Richard BOXALL

a lot of the Trees have his parents as:
parents = Edward Boxall & Mary Brixton, but haven't looked as yet for any marriage between these 2 as yet or other children or deaths.. to give clue as to where Joseph/Richard was born between 1825 and 1828
regards
Val
