John B J Wholohan didn’t marry Emma J Webster until 1926 Auburn NSW
his brother Sydney had a hard life ... ended up in the entrance books for the Vernon and Sorban - ended up joining up in 1915.

A decree nisi returnable in 6 months was granted on the petition of John Benedict Joseph Wholohan who petitioned for a dissolution of his marriage with Stella Ruby Wholohan (formerly Madden) on the grounds of desertion, The parties were married on July 17 1918 at Eskineville according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church, There was no appearance on behalf of respondent and decree nisi returnable in 6 months was granted. Mr R W Fraser appeared for pertitioner.

His father John Joseph Wholohan b 1850 died 29 June 1911 age 61 (parents John & Bridget) buried Rookwood Section 3 Row 5 Catholic Mortuary 2 & 3 – wife Mary Frances nee Halpin

Mother’s death – The Biz Thur 11 Nov 1943
Mrs Mary Wholohan a respected resident of Redfern Street Granville. Mrs Mary Wholohan passed away at her son’s home on November 6, she is survived by 3 children. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon for the RC Cemetery Rookwood.

No idea what hotel. Does that say Ryan's. ?

No Joseph in Publicans Licenses in NSW Archives.

Oh. There are c.20,000 entries to search that covers the period 1830-61.

George st runs north south with even numbers on eastern side. So 20 -22 George street West seems rather odd. No buildings on that spot now.
