There should be a Gertrude Kilner b. 1874 in 1911 and the one born 1877 in 1939 looking at the death index.

This seems to be the one found in 1911. Not the one who is in my tree.

I'm not up to speed with this thread but just to answer your question the d.o.b in the 1939 register is 26 April 1877 and the husband's name is Fred. H Swift b 27 Mar 1874. So probably not the correct one.

In 1901 the Gertrude Kilner of your 1911 census is Gertrude Alner, age 26, born Huddersfield, working as a bookkeeper at the White Heart Hotel in Reigate so that gives a birth year of ~1875. Correct for the 1891 census in post#12
