2010 Moments.

As 2010 draws to a close and we welcome in 2011 what have been your highlights of the year?

Mine was visiting Esholt, where the village scenes of Emmerdale was filmed from 1975 to 1997.

And progressing further in my family tree.

Plus passing the 10 year mark at my workplace.

My 2010 moments have been these, and in no particular order.

1. Setting up my vegetable garden and poly tunnel.
2. Making new friends.
3. Attending my friends daughters wedding.
4. My sister in laws, successful cancer operation.
5. Staying relatively healthy.
6. My daughters house purchase.
7. My wifes and my continuing love.
8. Anticipation of an impending visit of a friend from foreign lands.

My 2011 hopes.

More of the same.

My big 2010 moment was making a plea for help from this site, and receiving a reply which resulted in my making contact with the daughter of one of my grandfather's siblings, and then to another previously unknown living sibling.
I have mentioned this before, but the thrill is that I did not know anything about my grandfather's family as my father had fallen out with them and never visited or spoke of them. I now have details of most of them and their families, including photos, one being my great grandfather. Wow..
For this I am grateful and cannot thank Admin and P.Risboy enough.

I need to thank p.risboy for helping me find the baptism of Matthias Butler and which lead me to discover his parents came from Bucks yet Matthias was born in Oxon.

My 2010 moments have been many, some have been mentioned on other threads. However, the friendly banter on this site is priceless and I thank you all for the amazing contribution every one gives to help us lesser mortals and even computer-illiterate people like me. As this year draws to a close I shall raise a glass of ale (pre-VAT increase) to your continued good health and better still won't send you a bill!!
