Harry and Meghan. The Sun newspaper states they obtained and shows a marriage certificate they claim is Meghan and Harry's. How can this be? I didn't think anyone could obtain anyone's marriage cert been as recent as 2018? I also didn't think that a royal marriage certificate is available to anyone at anytime? Also the paper states it paid $75.00 for the certificate. Why did they state $'s when uk is £? I thought UK certificates were about £ 9 so their $75.00 is way off mark.

Could this be a fake marriage certificate the newspaper have put out there just for the sake of selling a story? Or they could really have gotten a copy through GRO like they say they did.

Priority Service for the cert is £35 + £12 delivery. = £47. There are several levels of delivery costs/prices. Standard Service cost for the cert is £11.

$75 at the present exchange rate is £54. Not sure what the exchange rate was on19th May 2018, when they married, nor any extra costs that may have been incurred for delivery/collection for the Sun newspaper.

GRO allows applications for 2018 marriages.

Plus the fact it is illegal to present false/fake documentation and publish it. It is also a certified copy, dated 16 March 2021.

So I guess that anyone can get Marriage cert for 2018.(y)

Thanks for that Steve. I had just been wondering as over here there are some certificates such as a marriage one we can't get for 30 years so was just asking for my own curiosity as to whether they did infact obtain the certificate or whether they were just adding fuel to the fire on a already hot situation. Thanks :)

To be honest, I thought the same as you. The latest marriage cert I bought was my brothers in 1967...........And that was only for his father in laws name.

I haven't read the Sun newspaper since 1973.:ROFLMAO:
