2nd B. Royal Fusilliers 1899-1903

Valued Member
My maternal grandfather served in the 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers 7th September 1899 to 30th October 1902, after which was "Transferred to Army Reserve at Aldershot" .
He served overseas for 1yr 220 days. I am trying to find where his battalion was serving during this period? Some years ago I was shown a photo of him riding a Camel whilst in uniform apparently on patrol and told he was in the Camel Corps. (Which according to Wikipedia was not founded until 1916?) The photo resembles other ones of him I have seen. (I was not given a copy. Did ask to get one done!) Only indications I have found were that he could have been in South Africa, which does not tie up with the camel riding photo.
I cannot get to Kew, any suggestions for on line or by post info on this battalion please?
