Arthur Albert Arber was born on 12th November 1870 at 5 Favourite Cottages, Wilson's Yard, Islington, London.

I am trying to find any info on that address. There are a few Google references to it being variously a cattle yard and a stables, though no mention of the cottages and I cannot find any map reference or illustration of this place.
Any suggestions please?

By the 1871 Census they had moved to 7 Hamilton Mews, London.

Title proves I can't smell. err, spell!

Wilson's Yard is on the Booth Poverty Map of 1898.

http://booth.lse.ac.uk/cgi-bin/do.p...h=309&b.p.l=1&m.move.down.x=8&m.move.down.y=9

It is just south of Highbury Station, just below the Board School, running between Upper St and Liverpool St. Seems to be now called Laycock St.

If you search around in the Booth Archive you will find out about the general area but 30 years after 1870 so possibly quite different.
There is a mention of Wilson' Yard on page 208 -209 of notebook B345 but it doesn't say much, it says Wilsons yard is the same as the cattle lairs "mentioned above" which were said to be old and ramshackle. Also common lodging house at end, beds 6d a night.

can't find the address in 1871 but in 1881:-

5 Wilsons Yard
Favourite Cottages
Islington
London, Middlesex
Registration district Islington
Archive reference RG11
Piece number 226
Folio 82
Page 47

there are seven Favourite Cottages, normal working families.

Just looked at Wilsons Yard in 1851, 8 cottages at that time and nearly everyone born in Westmoreland, mostly coachmen/groom/omnibus driver.

Not relevant to your search but interesting!
