Hi Dave

Do you know if the FHUK site was down for a few hours today, was unable to get on site this afternoon.

1891 U.K census – St George, Barton Regis, Gloucestershire

Thomas PEACOCK head wid b. abt. 18 age 61 Fish Monger Bitton, Gloucestershire

Possible death Sept Qtr 1887
PEACOCK Mary Ann 53 Barton R.

possible Marriage June Qtr 1854 Keynsham
PEACOCK Mary Ann
PEACOCK Thomas
(Were their parents related somehow)?

Is there a SHEPPARD connection with the PEACOCK family because the only Alice PEACOCK 1875 Bitton I could find in 1891 was a grandaughter of Jane SHEPPARD (she is widow of George).

Cheers

Hello crankypants,

I was out for a few hours so I can't say if the site was down or not.

Thank you for pointing out an error. :D Actually I thought it was this one:

Marriages Jun 1853
Peacock Thomas Bradford Y 9b 9
Baxter Mary Ann Bradford Y 9b 9

but it's much more likely to have been the Keynsham one to fit in my tree. So, to answer you question, I dunno.

I'm working on this branch on the fly with the stuff you give me in the census listings. Daniel and Ann WILMOT had 9 children and so far I only have marriages for the first one, Elizabeth and for Thomas. I will investigate.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

I've found nothing yet to connect the two PEACOCKs and nothing on SHEPPARD either. Will search some more today.

Dave

Hi Dave

As I mentioned in another post this was the only Alice PEACOCK I could find close enough to her details in 1881 census.
I could not find a death for Alice Peacock between 1881-1891
Perhaps put this one to the side just in case.

1891 U.K census - Frenchay Hill, Winterbourne, Gloucestershire

Jane SHEPPARD head wid b. abt. 1821 age 70 Bath, Somerset
Joseph HASKINS son-in-law b. abt. 1855 age 36 Coal Miner Pucklechurch, Gloucestershire
Mary J SHEPPARD daur b. abt. 1859 age 32 Risca, Monmouthshire (should be Haskins)
Edward J HASKINS grandson b. abt. 1878 age 13 Mangotsfield, Gloucestershire
Mary F L HASKINS granddaughter b. abt. 1884 age 7 Frenchay, Gloucestershire
- HASKINS granddaughter b. abt. 1891 age 11 days Frenchay, Gloucestershire
Alice PEACOCK granddaughter b. abt. 1876 age 15 Bitton, Gloucestershire

Hi Dave

I almost gave you the wrong Mary Ann PEACOCK (nee Peacock) for 1851 until I remembered there was also listed on 1861 with Thomas & Mary a Sophia PEACOCK as daur age 18. This is not their daughter.

Sophia PEACOCK is Mary Ann PEACOCK's sister, this is them in 1851.

1851 U.K census –Nobles Hill, Bristol St George, Gloucestershire

William PEACOCK head b. abt. 1807 age 44 Coal Miner Oldland, Gloucestershire
Sarah PEACOCK wife b. abt. 1810 age 41 Oldland, Gloucestershire
Sarah PEACOCK daur b. abt. 1832 age 19 Spinster Oldland, Gloucestershire
Mary PEACOCK daur b. 1834 age 17 Spinster Oldland, Gloucestershire
William PEACOCK son b. 1839 age 12 Errand Boy Oldland, Gloucestershire
Ellen PEACOCK daur b. abt. 1842 age 9 Oldland, Gloucestershire
Sophia PEACOCK daur b. abt. 1844 age 7 Oldland, Gloucestershire
Samuel PEACOCK son b. abt. 1847 age 4 Oldland, Gloucestershire
George PEACOCK son b. abt 1850 age 1 Oldland, Gloucestershire

1841 U.K census – Batch, Bitton, Gloucestershire

Will PEACOCK b. abt 1811 age 30 Coal M Gloucestershire
Sarah PEACOCK b. abt 1805 age 36 Gloucestershire
Joseph PEACOCK b. abt. 1829 age 12 Gloucestershire
Sarrah PEACOCK b. abt. 1831 age 10 Gloucestershire
Mary PEACOCK b. abt. 1833 age 8 Gloucestershire
William PEACOCK b. abt. 1838 age 3 Gloucestershire
Ellin PEACOCK b. abt. 1840 age 1 Gloucestershire

I wonder if Mary's parents and Thomas' parents are connected!!!!!!

Hello crankypants,

Thanks for the listings. Now, I think I'm totally lost.

Ok, tell me if this is what we have here:

Sophia dau age 18 occ cotton weaver born Bitton (as per census image)
so that is a sister of Mary Ann.

and
Mary PEACOCK daur b. 1834 age 17 Spinster Oldland, Gloucestershire
is the one (Mary Ann) who married Thomas.

So, Mary Ann's parents are William b. abt 1807 Oldland and Sarah.

Thomas' parents are Daniel b. abt 1790 Bitton and Ann.

It would help if we could find William b. 1807-1811 in ... :2fun:

I don't have any siblings for Daniel and I'm not even sure yet if his parents are Isaac and Hannah. He is the head of my PEACOCK tree.

William PEACOCK
c. 12 Mar 1807 Bristol, Gloucester - parents Thomas & Sarah Extracted IGI
c. 1 Aug 1813 St Anne's, Oldland, Gloucester - parents Aaron & Elizabeth privately submitted IGI

Dave

Hi dave

Don't you love it when it starts to get confusing:D

Yes they are sisters
1851 Parents William PEACOCK & Sarah (unknown) + siblings
Mary PEACOCK daur b. 1834 age 17 Spinster Oldland, Gloucestershire
Sophia PEACOCK daur b. abt. 1844 age 7 Oldland, Gloucestershire

1861
Thomas PEACOCK b. abt 1835 age 26 Coal Miner Bitton, Gloucestershire
Mary Ann PEACOCK wife b. abt. 1835 age 26 Bitton, Gloucestershire
Joseph PEACOCK son b. abt 1854 age 7 Bitton, Gloucestershire
Elizabeth PEACOCK daur b. abt 1858 age 3 Bitton, Gloucestershire
Mary Ann PEACOCK daur b. abt 1860 age 1 Bitton, Gloucestershire
Sophia PEACOCK daur b. abt. 1843 age 18 Cotton Weaver Bitton, Gloucestershire

Definite error for Sophia as daur. Thomas & Mary would have been 8 years old.

Looks like lots of work to find out how Thomas’ parents Daniel & Ann if any at all connection to Thomas’ wife’s parents William & Sarah.
No sign of William & Sarah in 1861 / Daniel & Ann still alive in 1861

Originally I was searching for Mary Ann / Mary A but the path lead me nowhere, as I said I remembered, why was there a Sophia listed as a daughter with Thomas & Mary Ann, that’s when I started searching for Mary (no middlename) and found Sophia in 1851.

Got a headache yet!!!
cheers

Hello crankypants,

Yes, I love hitting my head against so many brick walls. :)

Thanks, but I already have Daniel & Ann from 1841 to 1871.

I have very little on Daniel so far - possible parents, no siblings and his marriage:

Daniel Peacock (Bachelor of this parish) & Ann Wilmot (Spinster of this parish) 10th November 1820 at Bitton, St Mary - Banns

Nothing in IGI or in the NC-BMD for a William PEACOCK.

Possible marriage:

William Butler PEACOCK Spouse: Sarah BROAD
Marriage: 1 Feb 1830 Temple, Bristol, Gloucester, England
Batch: says extracted

Regards,

Dave
