I wanted to know more about Mr Gillespie who they skirted over.

I will be watching it tho but see it is later at night next week.

I guess they can only go on what they can find out about, Mr Gillespie.:confused:

David Olusoga had a nice trip to the USA, for his 'troubles'.:2fun:

The next episode appears to be more a harrowing story, in part.:eek:

Part 2 was interesting.:)

And it only goes to show how important birth certs are, and not relying on Census returns for childrens parentage.

An Alfred Robinson had 2 illegitimate children, to a woman who was cited in his divorce in the 1870's. (The divorce never happened, for reasons unknown, even though the wifes case was a good one).
The mother of the children died soon after childbirth, so Alfred Robinson took the children into his marital home, and lived as a family with his wife in the cencus.

Forgot all about it and watched it on catch up.

Yep easy to miss that unless you check out the gro.gov website for every birth to make sure the mother's maiden name is what you think it is. Wonder how often it happened.

Perhaps they could pick a house in Newcastle or Durham? We get a lot about London and the Liverpool one was a refreshing change but North East would be interesting too. Or Hull.
