I went on a factfinding mission to York to one of my favourite places, Barley Hall, a small medieval building that was dicovered by accident almost when they were removing some old derelict office buildings.
Tucked down a little lane off Stone Gate it is really a wonderful discovery in a city that has so many fine old buildings.
I went there because it is St Nicholas Fair at York, and Barley Hall holds a medieval fair there. I went to ask if the craftworkers would come and do a craft fair at Bishops House and to my surprise most of them jumped at the chance.
We also went to the Kings Manor where there was another medieval fair. I have never been in there before as it is usually closed to the general public so it was quite a treat to see such a lovely medieval/tudor building.
Certainly worth a look if you get a chance.
So an interesting and rewarding day.
