A southerner searching for northern roots

Hi, my name's Duncan, currently living near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, but originally from Littlehampton on the south coast of West Sussex.

I moved up to Cambridgeshire for university and, thanks to friends, have lived here since. My mum's side of the family (Latter) seem to have been on the south coast for generations, but my dad's side are northerners, with my grandma (Jones) having been a singer in the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and the male side of his family tree (Sample) being connected to the Freemen Of Newcastle; House Carpenters, and from my recent index searches I seem to have found some roots in Paisley, hopefully meaning a Scottish branch as to my family tree.

I've always been fascinated about the Freemen topic, and now with the possible Scottish connection I'm getting more active with my research.
