A totally different STEWART family in Inverness

I'd like a look up please for the following STEWART family in Duror, Inverness in 1851.

Jane b. abt 1797 Ag lab * possibly head of the house if spouse Allan is not there = has probably died

Allan son b. abt 1827 shoe maker born Appin
Jane g/dau b. abt 1848 born Fort William

There should be no other grand children but there may be other children besides Allan.

Thank you very much. That looks very much like Allan so I was wrong in thinking he was still at home. It seems 50% are CAMERON and the rest are McPHEE and McDONALDS :2fun:

This is just the start of a search for two cousins who married the same Alexander SANDS. I'm not sure I can find my way in this maze of CAMERONS.

OK I can help out a bit more. Head of house Jane could possibly be Janet/Janette and the address is possibly Kintallen, Duror.

In 1861 Allan is living with his mother.

Jane STEWART senior is certainly hiding herself in 1851. In 1861 she is living in Duror, Kintallen & this may be her in 1871 Duror, Kintaton. I wonder if she was transcribed under another name.

Nothing on Jane STEWART b.1848

She has to be somewhere, will keep looking

Sorry, if you are searching for Jane Jr not Jane Sr then it's actually not STEWART because she is a McPHEE. I was expecting the 1851 census to read something like this:

Jane Stewart head 54 Agr lab
Allan son b. abt 1827 shoe maker born Appin
Jane g/dau b. abt 1848 born Fort William

Oh well, it looks like we are out of luck.

Since we can't find eldest daughter Jane we should look for her father John McPHEE instead. She is back with her parents in 1861.

This is the family in 1861:

Janet McPhee; wife; age 36; born at Appin
Jane McPhee; daughter; age 13; born at Fort William
Ann McPhee; daughter; age 11; scholar; born at Glencoe
Allan McPhee; son; age 9; born at Glencoe
Alexander McPhee; son; age 6; born at Kilmallie
Janet McPhee; daughter; age 4; born at Kilmallie
Donald McPhee; son; age 1; born at Kilmallie

Please see if you can find this family in 1851. Thanks.

Jane born Fort William is correct and her mother born Appin is also correct. There is some doubt her father John was born at Kilmallie. It is more likely the 1851 if you can find him it will have him born Appin (Lismore / Appin/ Duror).

No I think there is only one. Now I'm confused.
Originally you thought Jane b. abt. 1848 Fort William may of been with Jane Stewart & Allan Stewart in 1851.
In 1851 Jane b. abt. 1849 Fort William was with Catherine Cameron & Mary Cameron.

Confused ? Who ? Me ?

She is said to be with her grandmother and Janet STEWART is Jane's MOTHER's mother.

The census with the two CAMERON is clearly three generations and Mary is Jane's FATHER's mother.

So, if we have one Jane born Fort William she was with BOTH sets of grandparents on census night.

The only Jane McPHEE born about 1848 at Fort William that appears in IGI is a privately submitted entry. So that does not help us in finding out if there is one or two of them.
