Hi

I am researching my Great Grandfather and am having trouble identifying his regiment. The abbreviated name is shown as A.H.&M.Cps. He was in Malta in 1875, 1868 and 1869. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Maggie,

I don't know what that stands for but give your grandfathers name, dob, where born and will try looking up records and see if we can find more information.:) Joyce
Hi Joyce

My Great Grandfathers nmae was Walter Frederick Cromey, and he was born in Somerset. Not sure when he was born about 1845 (?).

Many Thanks

Maggie

Hi Maggie,

I found this, it's not very helpful. But A.H.& M.Corps is mentioned several times in relation to Malta.
It may provide a link to your enquiry.

Hi Steve

That was a great link you sent me, very interesting. My GGF was married in this country, but his wife spent a lot of time with him in Malta as one of their children was born there. Charlotte Gretrude Cromey later went to India with her brother William and married there. So I am also looking for that trail.. Unfortunately, I have no knowledge of what Charlotte's married name would have been. Any ideas?

Hi Joyce

I may have got the date of birth wrong. Walter Frederick Cromey seems to be a family name, (is was also the name of my Grandfather and my Uncle, it gets very confusing).

On checking, sorry Joyce, it is around 1845.
