ada b phillips hackney 1950??

Hi i am searching for my g aunt ada b phillips born hackney 1928
she was with her mum lydia when she died 1945 but my grandad told my aunt born 1955 she had died befor she was born i can find no trace of her at all she was still phillips in 1945 listed on death cert ? i have visited a spiritual medium who picked up on the fact she was missing from my tree she told me she moved away and the number 67 was either a year or her age but still i found nothing any help appreciated thanks newbie Gina

Hi Gina,

Welcome to FHUK.

You dont say what records you have looked at! The first port of call would be the marriage index, if no luck there then the death index. What date did Lydia die in 1945 that would give you a starting point.
Also try looking under different spellings eg philips etc and look at the bottom of the index as well as sometimes there are handwritten entries.

Hi i should have said ive checked spellings, bmd records cannot find marriage or death i am no longer joined to ancestry as my year came to an end and i thought i would digest what i found out first then re join her mum lydia died 1st april 1950 not 1945 like i said before me getting mixed up she was only young if she died before 1955 Gina

I did have a look on the marriage and death index. There is a death for an Ada B Philiips June 1/4 district Edmonton, but her age is given as 46 could this be an error?

Hi julie ada was born 1928 hackney what year did you find above death ? her mums death cert is in district edmonton i will send for cert if i think is right one i got her mums lydia and thats how i found her to be still alive as she is informant gina

Sorry to leave the year out doh. It was 1952 its a few years out but it could be an error.

You could go through the local registrars office not sure if they are the same price as ordering through the GRO or a little bit more, and if its not the right one I think they will refund the money but you can always get in touch and ask.

Hi julie by my reconing she would be 24 in 1952 anything is possible though where did you find this info i think i had better re join ancestry to tie loose ends up thanks Gina

Hi plot thickens 1911 census shows ada beatrice living aged 4 born before marriage so death would be correct for her but i have found another ada b phillips with mothers maiden name nevard as she was born some twenty years later she could be the first ada b daughter named after herself as no mother would name two living girls the same would she ?? how odd but i still cant get any info on the youngest one of course she may have never married and could be alive still ?? i am only guessing i willhave to apply for both birth certs and the death cert to be sure Gina
