Hi boys and girls,

Need some help tracing some information on:
Ada Woolley

I believe she was born in Ilkeston under the Basford registration district (Notts & Derby), though it could be Nottinghamshire.
Possibly references: Births Jun Qtr 1890 Woolley Ada Basford 7b 13
Though I believe this may be incorrect as on her Marrige certificate to John William Hallam in 1906 it states she was 20. (making her DOB 1886)

If anyone could find the full information on this - that would be great:)

Her father Arthur Woolley was born around 1866, possibly in Clifton south of Nottingham.

Thanks all,
regards,
Dave

Hi Julie - Thanks again - you are a treasure!

Ada Woolley married John William Hallam in 8 December 1906 at Ilkeston and had 3 sons:

1. HALLAM John William, b. 20 May 1908, Cotmanhay, Derbyshire, England
2. HALLAM Arthur, b. 1909, April/May/June Qtr 1909 REF: Basford 7b 237
3. HALLAM Walter Herbert, b. 13 Sep 1911, 121, Highbury Road, Bulwell, Nottingham, England.

I have a transcript of the 1901 census (its missing on Pro Guv 1901 census)
Arthur Woolley Head 35 Gas Stoker Notts Clifton
Emily wife 33 Notts Radcliffe on Trent
Ada daug 12 Derbys Cotmanhay
Herbert Son 9
Harriett Daug 3
Emily Daug 1
Arthur Brandrick Lodger 25 Naving on Railway Staffs Stone

Think this 1901 census may be the one you found!? This would make Ada being born 1888-9? That's why I am reasoning between 1886 and 1890.

So your following find could be correct:
There a birth in the June 1/4 1888 disrict Basford.
This one cannot be right - born & died same year!
There's a death for a Ada Woolley born 1890 died in 1890 Sept 1/4 disrict Basford
Thanks Julie,
Regards,
Dave

Theres also another Ada Woolley occ servant born 1888 Cotmanhay ( but county has been transcribed as Staffordshire) . Whether young Ada is on the census twice or theres been a muck up with the birth place.

Hi Julie,

I think the original 1901 census you found is the correct family Julie.
Arthur Woolley Head 35 Gas Stoker Notts Clifton
Emily wife 33 Notts Radcliffe on Trent
Ada daug 12 Derbys Cotmanhay
Herbert Son 9
Harriett Daug 3
Emily Daug 1
Arthur Brandrick Lodger 25 Naving on Railway Staffs Stone
It states:
Ada daug 12 Derbys Cotmanhay (in 1901)
On her marriage details (below) it states:
Ada Woolley, aged 20 (in 1906)
Marriage certificate 8 December 1906 (obtained 8/2/02):
John William Hallam, aged 22, Bachelor, Coal Miner of North Norman Street, Cotmanhay. No father or profession entered.
Ada Woolley, aged 20, spinster of North Norman Street, Cotmanhay. Father Aurthur Woolley, Labourer at Gas Works.
Married according to the Rites & Ceremonies of the Methodist Free Church.
Ebenezer Chapel, Awsworth Road, Ilkeston, Derbys.
Witnesses: Edward Davies, Elizabeth Pope.
I have checked parish indexes between 1886 and 1890 for Cotmanhay, Ilkeston, Heanor without any success!!

Maybe I should also look for her death (as I am with her husband - John William Hallam!)!!??

Thanks again Julie :)
Dave
