Thanks Geoff.

It is very, very curious if we do prove it's the same Adam:

Page 47
1864 Marriages in the Parish of High Church in the Burgh of Paisley
No. 93 - 1864 On the Fourteenth Day of October at 57 Broomlands Street Paisley
After Banns according to the forms of the United Presbyterian Church
Signed Adam McNaughton Teacher of English Bachelor - 25 - Kerraithill / Ferraishill ? Bothwell - Adam McNaughton Carpenter Elizabeth McNaughton M.S. McLean -
Signed Catherine Blackley - Spinster - 24 - Karraithill / Ferraishill ? Bothwell - John Blackley (Deceased) Isabella Blackley M.S. McGuire -
Signed R. P. ? Brown Minister
Signed Wm. McNaughton Witness, Ann Blackley Witness
1864 October 16th at Paisley Denis ? Hearn ? Registrar

That is Ann just before she married David BECKETT.

I'm wondering if the two sisters agreed to go to America and Catherine backed out ???

Need to find Adam's marriage to Sarah.

Pity it just says Scotland for Adam and not Ayr or Kilmarnock.

Sarah was born in England but they may not have married there.

Ida born 1868 USA.

In 1900:
Stepdaughter Fantha M Moore F 32 Connecticut

How can that be? Both born 1868?

The first we see of Adam and Sarah together is 1880, Ida is a dau b. 1868, Sarah doesn't have to be the mother but Adam is the father (virtue of being head). Fantha could be a married dau of Sarah, which would fit as Adam's step dau..

Still doesn't explain why she is not around in 1880
