A 1901 look up request please for David Addison (1841-1917) born Aston or Birmingham?

His occupation was working in the brass or steel industry.

His youngest son Frederick born 1880 may be living with him.

Thank you

Marriages Jun Qtr 1899
Addison Frederick - Aston 6d 639
Anstey Harriet

David not with them according to the transcription of 1901 census. FamilySearch lists 1901 without the full census ref so I'd be breaking copyright to post it.

Not only am I unable to find David Addison in 1901, I can't see him in 1911 either.

Do you have the death cert or are you just presuming that the David Addison who died 1917 is the right person? That's not intended as a criticism it's just that with him missing from two censuses I am wondering if that is the correct death, although I can't see another one in Warwickshire which fits.

I'm presuming that the death in 1917 Aston, is that of David Addison but saying that I don't have a death cert. I'm presuming this death for two reasons one because the age of death is within the scope of his birth abt. 1841/2 and the second reason because of his place of death.

Although, I have found that the name Addison has been mistranscribed as Harrison. In particularly the marriage record of Mary Ann Bell and David Harrison in 1859.

Thank you both for checking the censuses.

There is a David Addison in the 1911 Census born 1841 Birmingham with wife Mary born 1853 Bilston. He is a Blacksmith. This is not your David as they have been married 35 years and have no children. He could, however, be the David Addison who died 1917. Perhaps you need to get the death cert to be sure which David it is.

Unfortunately that early into Civil Registration it is very possible the birth was not registered.

However there is a definite lack of David Addisons in the Censuses. I can find Sparrow's David in 1881 and 1891 and David the blacksmith in 1911 and that is it. If they were both born Birmingham c 1840 why aren't they appearing in earlier Censuses?

1881 Census has the family living in Birmingham. David Addison aged 39 birthplace Birmingham with wife Mary Ann (Bell) eight of their children are also listed birthplace Birmingham.

Also lodging at the same address is Rhoda Haddon (was Bell) with four of her children.

1891 Census David Addison aged 51 birthplace Birmingham and living with him is Rhoda.

I've tried tracing two of the Addison daughters and although there is a baptism for both in Birmingham I cannot find their birth registrations in Birmingham.

Thank you for looking, I do appreciate your time. I'll have to fathom this one.

I've also looked for birth regs for all the children and the only two who turn up are James and Frederick, both registered Aston with mmn Bell.
