Hello,

name: Samuel Adlam
event: Census
event date: 1841
gender: Male
age: 15
birthplace: Wiltshire
record type: Household
registration district: Warminster
sub-district: Longbridge Deverill
civil parish: Horningsham
county: Wiltshire

I'd like a look up please for the family in 1841.

I can't see Henry in the same sub-RD. It's looking as though they might not be brothers, so cousins perhaps. How old would Henry have to be to be a witness at a 1867 wedding?

A privately submitted IGI record:

Samuel ADLAM b. 1825 Horningsham, Wiltshire
- father John

Regards,

Dave

Hello Julie,

Thank you very much.

Now I have to find them in shipping records. I'd say they were in Australia by 1858 but I don't know how much earlier. Possible arrival in Victoria for Henry. Don't know if Sarah is spouse or sister.

Hi Dave,

In Warminster in 1851, there are two entries for Samuel Adl*m. One is aged 10 and the other is 46, so neither is yours!

The only SA of a similar age (23), and born in Wiltshire is in Merthyr Tydfil, so I’m guessing your Sam left before 1851.

Josie :)

Hello Josie,

Thanks. I can't see a Samuel who fits in the shipping records. I have found a few with the same family name in TROVE but nothing else for Samuel. Found a Henry, a shoemaker, but seems he arrived about 1876 so he was not the witness to the 1867 marriage.

Regards,

Dave
