Hi, Can anyone help. I am trying to find more information on My Father in law who's name is John White who was born in 1927 & was adopted by John & Margaret White. When he was born they were living at 34 Lower Kevin street, Dublin.
Can anyone tell me where I can find out details of the adoption & if it is possible to find out who his birth parents were.

Thanks

There was no formal adoption law in the Republic of Ireland till 1953. Prior to that adoption was an informal arrangement with no statutory documentation. Often done through the church or a church related agency, but sometimes just between relatives. It may be very difficult, if not impossible, to find the information you are seeking.

My great grandparents Matthew and Cecelia Heffernan were living in 34 Lower Kevin Street, Dublin at that time. So they must have known the White family. If you would like to message me we can discuss this.
