Hello everyone,
Ive just discovered this site and am hoping there maybe someone on here who can help me.
I have an ancestor (my g.g grandmother) who Iam desperately trying to find more about. She was admitted to St John's Hospital in Stone, near Aylesbury Buckinghamshire, in 1920 and remained there until she died in 1945. It was also known as Stone Lunatic Asylum. I would really like to trace her records from this time but have had no luck so far and wondered if anyone knows where or how I could trace them? Ive tried the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies who could confirm her admission and time there but nothing else, and also The Health and Social Care Information Centre who said that NHS records did not begin until 1948 and so they have no records either.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, this has been puzzling me for several years and I really want to get some answers at last! Thank you for your time, Alice
