Any help would be appreciated. I know 100% Albert George Smith d.o.b and he was born in Ashbourne in 1902. I have researched and found his probable family there. It's later that seems to get tricky. He appears on electoral and censuses from 1926 to 1939 in west kirby cheshire where he marries and also a local newspaper in 1939. The family story goes that he left the family and was never seen or spoken of again around the 1940's. Is there any way you can search a death with just a d.o.b?

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

Deaths in England for at least 10x Albert G Smith born abt 1902.

The dob appears in the index after abt 1969 in FreeBDM but index does have the odd error so a match may or may not be found to the known dob.

Before abt 1969 the middle names are usually just initials, so 5x deaths for Albert G born abt 1902. Also depends how accurate the age at death is.

Did he enlist in the services?

A common name and a difficult time period.

Dave

Thanks for your reply. Not to my knowledge he didn't join any services, he left the family business and no further trace. I can't find a divorce or anything like that. The only document I have of him is dated 1926 (of the top of my head) and it seems to be a Canadian visa? Stamped in quebec. I don't know when he went or why he was there because he appears to come back and settle in Cheshire around that time. I'm wondering did he go back to Canada, got to love a common name.

I believe ( not fact ) that he was still in Wirral/Cheshire area sometime in the 1940s. To be honest he could have just moved to a town 10 miles away or gone "home" to Derbyshire or maybe abroad, there was no talk of where or why he left.

There are a few deaths for Albert Smith with the same year of birth or one year difference including one on the Wirral where he was living in 1939, but the name is Albert E Smith, so possibly not him.
