Albert Amos Hoare

My uncle was Albert Amos Hoare born 1906, registered Lambeth.
I have had no luck trying to find his marriage. I only knew his wife as auntie Lou. I guess this was short for Louise or Louisa though I don't know if this was her first name and I have no idea as to what her maiden name was. I know they lived in Harrow and had a son, Richard. My uncle died mid 1960's (I think in Harrow) and my auntie died late '70's or early '80's in St John's Wood.
Any information or help please.
David

Hi Dave,

I found a marriage for a Albert T Hoare Sept 1/4 district Lambeth but the brides name is Violet D Crush, this may not be them unless Lou was just a nickname. Your cousins birth certificate will give her maiden name.

Thanks to the 1911 Census I have now found out that my Uncle was Albert AMOS Hoare but still cannot find his marriage.
With reference to your post juliejtp, I do not know my cousins date or place of birth (though I suspect the place of birth was Harrow).

Ji Dave

Do you know roughly when Richard Hoare was born? Finding his birth will be easier to help find the mothers maiden name confirming the right marriage.

Hi Dave

Could this be Richard? The firstname is different but the middle initial is R. Mother maiden name is Crush.

Hi Ben,
Thanks for your reply.
I think if you look at juliejtp's earlier post to this thread that Peter R is unlikely to be my cousin.
Juliejtp found a marriage for Albert T Hoare to a Violet Crush, but having found my Uncle was Albert AMOS and not Albert Thomas Hoare I think the birth you have found is not the right one. I don't really have any idea of Richard's DoB. The only other thing I know about Richard was that he emigrated to Canada, again I have no idea when.
So far I have failed to find a marriage for Albert AMOS Hoare.

Regards
Dave

Bingo (I hope)

Marriage

1931
Apr/May/June 1/4
District Hendon

Albert A Hoare
Spouses maiden name Clark

Brides 1st names are Eileen M. I know you said Lou, unless this was a nickname or Albert could have
married a 2nd time. What do you think?

Hi Julie

As far as I know my Uncle was only married once, as for Richard's age it would only be a wild guess as I don't have any real recollection of meeting him but I think he is older than me, so I would guess he could be between 60-70.

I'll pick up any further replies tomorrow.
Good Night.

Dave

Hi

Margaret R Hoare Apr May Jun 1935 Hendon 3a 705

Ann A Hoare Apr May Jun 1933 Hendon 3a 677

Mothers Maiden name of Clark.

However, I am unable to locate a birth for a Richard Hoare mmn cClark. If that Albert A Hoare marriage in 1931 is the right one, then as Julie suggested could he have been married before and Richard was born c1929ish?

Hi Ben

A second marriage does seem to be a logical explanation.

I have a half brother on my mother's side who is older than me and he may have some information that might help but I have had no contact with him since my mother's funeral in 2003. He and his wife distanced themselves from me following my marriage in 1982.

I guess these entries you posted are births;

"Margaret R Hoare Apr May Jun 1935 Hendon 3a 705

Ann A Hoare Apr May Jun 1933 Hendon 3a 677"

It's funny but the name Ann rings a vague bell with me, I seem to recall visiting someone called Ann with my mum & dad when I must been 5 or 6.

Thanks for your input.

Dave

Hi Dave

Yes they are birth entries.

The only way to get confirmation is to send off for the 1931 marriage cert to see if the fathers name tallies and whether he was a bachelor or widower. This is probably the next best step.

Hi Julie

That's brilliant!

I think that has to be more than 90% certain as Albert lived in Harrow which I believe is part of the Hendon registration district.

Do you have Volume & page No's so that I can order certificates?

The 'S' in Richard S Hoare would most likely be Stuart, a name which I also have. Stuart was the maiden name of William (my father) and Albert's mother. I have also passed the name on to my 3 sons.

I was told by my mother that the Stuart side of the family go back to the Stuarts of Bute.

Thanks for your help it is very much appreciated.

Regards
Dave
