Thanks gibbo.

Don't know where one is in Sydney. Probably 70km away like NSW archives - bus, train and then bus to get there.

What do you know of his parents, nothing yet?

Just this Edinboro place didn't really exist until 1801 when a fella by the name of William Culbertson moved to the area in 1801, building a gristmill near Conneauttee Lake. From 1801 to 1825, the roots of the town were formed when congregations of Presbyterian and Methodist churches begun moving to the area and building houses and churches, some that are still around today. The original resident, William Culbertson, built the first school around 1825.

I don't understand why a boy of his age would be there 1811 and before.

Hi we are relatives who live in Australia - Private Alexander Munro's Son Alexander William Munro arrived in Australia with his new wife Louisa nee Sergeant Munro & their baby, arriving on the The Ship Thetis 15/02/1849 assisted Passenger programme he could read & write like his father. We are researching more history on our GGGGrandfather Private Alexander Munro's family Nairn Murray County Scotland. We cannot find much information on where he lived in Nairn Scotland as there are so many Alexander's married to Isabel's. We also have a very strong DNA connection to Charles Munro Born 1780-1861, William Munroe Born 1781 Foulis Dingwall Ross shire Scotland & Donald Munro Born 1797 Binv'gord R&C Died 1868 Edinbane Sky Scotland, Capt. John Munro Born 1770-1809 age 39 died (maybe at war), also very close related DNA William Butler Munro Born 1625-1716, Samuel W Douglas Born 1824-1888 USA, just to name a few. We have a very strong connection to William Munro, Lexington Massachusetts USA 1625-1719 (he was transported to New England USA 1651 after being captured at the Battle of Worcester, The Munro Tavern was constructed by Landowner David Comee and purchased by William Munro in 1770 he called the Tavern The House. Hope this information is helpful to those who are in our FT & I hope we can share other information that we might have together

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

Thanks for the details.

I'm not a descendant. This family has two connections to my large tree via Florence May and John Thomas.

Our GGGrandfather Alexander William Munro Born 1824 Horsleydown, London Borough of Southwark London England. Alexander William first wife Maryanne E nee Bradley Born:1826, their son Joseph Alexander Munro Born: 1846-1923. Joseph Alexander was a very small child when his father remarried Louisa Sergeant B:1827-1906. Joseph Alexander was left with his grandparents then when his grandparents died Joseph was placed into an orphanage but was not there long when Mrs Hamilton arrived & took him away from the orphanage. Now some information on Mrs Hamilton, who was obviously a wealthy land owners wife as our GGGGrandfather Alexander Munro Born:1794 had arranged for all of his children to be educated at the Caledonian School for Soldiers away at War, these children had to be sponsored by their wealthy landowner relatives or close friends. We have found records from the School that while one of Alexander Munro Born: 1794 daughters was attending the school she was pulled out and sent to work as a servant with her girlfriend for Mrs Hamilton. We are not sure of the connections to the Munro family for Mrs Hamilton.
