• Family History UK policy on the posting of census transcriptions:

    British Census images and data are Crown Copyright.

    The National Archives has relinquished Crown Copyright on documents within its control provided certain conditions are met. Basically you must ensure that the information is accurate, in context and you are required to include
    (a) an acknowledgement that the record is in the care of TNA
    (b) the full reference of the document.

    Where you have posted information that is Crown Copyright, you MUST add the following statement:
    "This information Crown Copyright and is from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk"

Hi all.

Look up please in 1881 census, and 1901 census.

Alfred Carman c1854, is living in St.George, Gloucester, in 1891 with spouse....Elizabeth Jane(nee.Read). Married in 1890. His p.o.b is given as MIDDLESEN(Middlesex). Occupation, Grocer

In 1911 he is in Municipal Lodging House, Wade St, Bristol. p.o.b is given as Finsbury, London. Occ.Grocers assistant. Widow.?


In 1901, his wife and family are living in Bedminster St.Paul.

Elizabeth Carman 39. b.Bristol. Widowed.??
Florence Carman 9
Beatrice Carman 7
Grace Carman 5

All kiddies born Bristol.

In 1911, Elizabeth Jane Carman b.1861. Bristol, is living at 76 Martin Street, St Pauls, Bristol. Widowed.?? and on her own.

She dies in 1947, Bristol.

I assume they seperated/divorced.:confused:


Any help finding Alfred Carman c1854 in 1881 & 1901 would be much appreciated.:)

I'm reasonably sure, he died in 1914 in Bristol.
