Alice (Louisa) Clarke is my great-great grandmother, who later became Alice Elliott. She got married in 1891 to Thomas Elliott in Cardiff.

The information I have on her is that she was born in 1866, in Lambeth, London and that she has a sister slightly older than her by a few years, who's called Emily Selina Clarke, later Hall. However, I believe Emily to have been born in 1962 +/- 2 years, and she was born In Shenley, Bucks. By 1891, Alice is living in Cardiff, but I have no clue to her whereabouts in the 1871/1881 Census.

Her sister Emily also got married in Cardiff in 1891, march quarter, but my next record of her, in the 1901 census her and William Hall (husband), are living in Beighton, Darbyshire.

Any information on Alice/Emily Clarke's family would be great.
I'm 16, and just getting into genealogy, and due to my age, when someone tells me to order a marriage cert, it's impossible for me right now.

Sorry Susan, you know all that I know. I don't know whether you're getting stuck due to the fact that Emily and Alice were born in completely different places, but right now, that's all I can offer you, sorry.

Charlie.

Right, now I'm slightly confused.

Dave has listed one "Selina Clarke", does this mean she dropped a name for the census right, and went by her middle name? William Hall is definitely listed as marrying Emily Selina Clarke, who is born around 1962, just like the Selina Clarke in the 1871 census.

By the way, for anyone's who cares, this is the 1911 census for Alice Elliott.

Quite a few name cross-overs between Alice's siblings and her children.

Thanks everyone.

Haha, this is great! My great-great grandad Thomas Elliott was living with Alice Elliott by 1891, at 18/19 Diamond street! They moved 8/9 places down the street for their new home once wed, brilliant.

Both John Clarke and Thomas Elliott are in the railway business, also... and if Dave's theory on Thomas's parents are right, Thomas's father was in the railway business too.

(Just noticed, some poor kid had the name Clara Clarke :()

Oznannie, Maud Elliott is Thomas and Alice Elliott's daughter :), she must have been staying at her Aunt's on the day of the 1901 Census.

And oz, I'm not sure about it being a double wedding, but it's very much a possibility which I'd like to look into.

EDIT: I know of Emily/Selina's whereabouts in 1891, it's in 1881 that I'm mainly interested in.
