This is some information I received from a FHUK Moderator...that may pertain to my paternal grandmother:

Where this information was found...did it have a name for the mother and father. John Phillips? Alice Phillips (nee Richmond)?

Could someone follow up on that for me please?

The Alice Phillips 1894 is on the 1901 census :-

John Phillips 42 ? devon
Hannah Phillips 40 Sheerness, Kent
Reginald Phillips 13 Lincoln
Robert Phillips 12 Lincoln
Alice Phillips 6 Wittering, Sussex

As the OP made no mention of brothers I think the Alice birth is wrong as there is also no elder sister!

You say the birth date was 30 July 1894. A birth has to be registered within 6 weeks so she would have been registered between 30 July and 10 Sept, i.e. in the third quarter of 1894. The birth you quote was in Q4 so can't be correct.

There were 7 Alice Phillips births registered in 1894, (none with any middle names). Of these seven only one was registered in Q3 and that was at Newport Monmouthshire so that should be the birth you look at first.

NB Monmouth is right on the border with England, so the family could be in Gloucestershire in cencuses.
Also as Alice was born in July she will not have yet had her birthday when the census was taken so will be aged 6 in 1901 and 16 in 1911, this will be indexed as born 1895, not 1894, when doing a census search.

I assume this is who you are interested in, the image of the marriage registration is on Family Search :-

Alice Maud Richmond Phillips, age 21, parents John and Alice Phillips
born England
spouse George Orbin Chute aged 22

This gives year of birth as ~ 1897 so quite different from the date in 1894 that you give. Do you know for sure which is correct?

A Alice M Phillips arrived on the ship Dominion port of arrival Quebec date of arrival 08-08-1908. Date of departure 03-07-1908, port of departure Liverpool. Party Barnardo Homes. Comments 118 boys Toronto, 101 girls Peterborough. Her age is 9. It maybe worth looking into this. The Barnardos fees
aren't cheap though.

Well I'm no further than I was with this yesterday. Cant find the family in 1901. No marriage for John Phillips and Alice Richmond on the England and Wales marriage index. Found 2 Alice Phillips with parents John and Alice on the 1901 census no Lillian with them and there were other siblings. What I dont inderstand if I have read this right is that the Kinnears and Phillips were friends, whereas Guy and Laura lived in Canada and assuming the Phillips in England.

I am very interested in this information...but can someone look up if it has her parents names? I really need to know this information. I have been very ill, cancer, but I am back on the trail and still searching

Alice Phillips birth Oct qtr 1894 Westhampnett Vol 02B page 371 has mother maiden name as Child

Can you tell us what you know for sure about her please....
